OnePlus considering adding Always-On display to OnePlus 7 Pro; working on ‘ghost touch’ fix

“Given that OnePlus 7 Pro features an AMOLED display, it only makes sense to have the feature onboard”

OnePlus has always been pretty vocal about discussing issues, receiving feedback about issues and everything related to its products through its official forum. Now that the company has launched the OnePlus 7 series, it has published a host of responses based on the user feedback it collected for the OnePlus 7 Pro (review). OnePlus’s global product operations manager said that the brand is still considering adding Always-On display, which is most commonly requested feature and it is working on improving power consumption efficiency for this feature before it is implemented. Given that OnePlus 7 Pro features an AMOLED display, it only makes sense to have the feature onboard.

Furthermore, talking about battery life concerns, OnePlus claims the OnePlus 7 Pro with 90Hz refresh rate outshone OnePlus 6 and was “very close” to OnePlus 6T, under the same test conditions. However, it said it would continue to optimise the firmware to improve its battery life further. OnePlus 7 Pro users complained their handsets are experiencing ‘ghost touch’ issue at the top of the screen without their input. The top left and right side of the display is reported to become non-responsive to taps until the screen is turned off and on again. Acknowledging the issue, OnePlus claims that it is currently working on the issue and hopes to fix it soon. It also urged users to report and share logs to detect the problem.

As for the camera, OnePlus says it is continuously working on improving the picture quality. It also noted that Wide-angle video support might be considered and based on user feedback, the company would start evaluating if it can implement the feature. OnePlus is asking users to submit photos or videos that they are not satisfied with so it can reproduce them and improve performance in the future.
