Redmi K30 Pro launch today: how to watch event live and everything we know so far
“The Redmi K30 Pro will serve as the brand’s flagship of sorts, powered by Snapdragon 865 and featuring a 64-megapixel quad rear camera.”
Xiaomi is all set to officially unveil its next premium smartphone, the Redmi K30 Pro, through a live stream event in China today. The event will be hosted on Weibo, as a result of which it is safe to conclude that the K30 Pro will only be restricted to China for now. That said, with India being such a massive market for Xiaomi’s Redmi branded devices, it is highly likely that the Redmi K30 Pro will come to India at a later point in the year. With its launch being long rumoured, the Redmi K30 Pro has been on our watch list for a while, and here is how you can watch the launch event live and what we have come to know of it so far, based on leaks, rumours and renders.
Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro – how to watch launch livestream
You can watch the Redmi K30 Pro launch event live by heading to the brand’s official Weibo page. The event is scheduled to start at 11:30am.
Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro specifications
According to online reports, the Redmi K30 Pro has already been confirmed to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. While RAM and storage sizes have not been confirmed yet, the Redmi K30 Pro has at least been confirmed to feature LPDDR5 fast memory standard and UFS 3.1 fast storage chip. Given that it will be a relatively premium device, expect at least 8GB of RAM on the device, paired with at least 128GB of native storage. According to leaks, the Redmi K30 Pro features the ‘largest’ vapour chamber cooling system that any smartphone has had so far, which in turn means that Xiaomi will be looking to position it as a gaming device.

Further teasers have stated that in terms of connectivity, the Redmi K30 Pro will be at the very top of the charts in terms of options. Since it runs on the Snapdragon 865, it features both standalone and non-standalone 5G connectivity, along with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6 (the latest generation of multi-gigabit Wi-Fi bandwidth) and Bluetooth 5.1, which reportedly offers connectivity range of 400 metres.
In terms of other specifications, the Redmi K30 Pro is expected to house a Super AMOLED panel with HDR10+ certification, 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,200 nits of peak brightness from the panel, and touch response rate of 180Hz. Its screen refresh rate, however, is not expected to be among the fast response rate options, and the Redmi K30 Pro is likely to feature the standard, 60Hz refresh rate. In terms of cameras, the Redmi K30 Pro is confirmed to feature the Sony IMX686 sensor to offer 64-megapixel primary imaging (with pixel binning, of course). Other modules have not been confirmed, but it is likely that the Redmi K30 Pro would come with an ultra-wide or a telephoto unit, a tertiary depth sensing module, and even a macro photography unit is not out of the question.
All of these specifications, according to GSMArena, will enable features such as 8K videography and full HD videos at 120fps. Upfront, the device may feature a 20-megapixel sensor placed in a pop-out module, leaving the entire display real estate open. The display is also said to house ann optical fingerprint scanner underneath the panel.
Redmi K30 Pro battery, expected pricing
All of these features in the Xiaomi Redmi K30 Pro is expected to be powered by a 5,000mAh battery, with an unspecified fast charging standard in place as well. As for the pricing rumours, reports suggest that the Redmi K30 Pro may be priced at CNY 3,299 for the base, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant. If this holds true, then the Redmi K30 Pro in India may be priced at well above the Rs 30,000 price point. At this price, the Redmi K30 Pro is expected to come in at least four colours — silver, blue, white and purple, all finished within a premium glass back casing.
Given that it will also be a 5G enabled phone, it will be interesting to see if the Redmi K30 Pro manages to convey itself as a well-priced device for its features, or an overpriced one for the brand’s market audience.
