Pixel 4a set to launch on August 3rd, Google confirms
Pixel 4a is scheduled to debut on August 3rd, as confirmed by Google. This falls in-line with the recent reports. The handset was initially expected to debut at Google I/O event in May but the launched was seemingly pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Mountain View giant has a dedicated special page on Google Store website with a puzzle based on ‘lorem ipsum’, a placeholder text commonly used to demonstrate visual form of web pages. Upon solving the puzzle, the August 3rd launch date is revealed. The tagline reads “The Google Just What You’ve Been Waiting For Phone”.
The ‘lorem ipsum’ text has fake Latin purportedly hinting about the cameras and “long-lasting batterum.”
Google Pixel 4a specifications (rumoured)
Google Pixel 4a is expected to ship with a 5.8-inch full HD display with 443 PPI and punch-hole cutout to accommodate the selfie snapper. It is tipped to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, which may or may not be expandable. It is likely to boot Android 10 OS but will eventually get Android 11 update down the lane. While the optic details aren’t clear, it is said to come with a single rear camera with an LED flash in the square module. A 3,080mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support is expected to fuel the phone.
Lastly, Pixel 4a price is tipped to be around $399, that translates to Rs 29,000 for the base model in Indian pricing. This is around the same price tag as the Pixel 3a launched last year. We should learn more details about the Pixel 4a when it goes official next week.
