Will HyperOS replace MIUI?

We have been hearing rumours of a new Xiaomi OS called MiOS for some time and also come across newly registered trademarks, viz., ‘Xiaomi Pengpai’ and ‘Xiaomi Hyper’. Now we know it is called HyperOS.

Jun has confirmed on Weibo that HyperOS will “gradually succeed MIUI“. As already mentioned, the Xiaomi 14 series will be the first to get HyperOS. He mentions that the Xiaomi 14 series is under production and has already got HyperOS as the software.

Xiaomi HyperOS

Perhaps, gradually HyperOS will be the default operating system in all Xiaomi phones and tablets. It would be interesting to see if HyperOS updates match the changes to the Android version

Xiaomi could take a leaf out of Vivo’s playbook whereby it could launch phones with two different operating systems for different markets. Vivo keeps its Origin OS exclusive to Mainland China and ships Funtouch OS in global markets including India.
