Jio Fiber to reportedly offer 100mbps broadband, unlimited calls, and more for less than Rs 1,000

“Jio is reportedly planning a commercial roll out of Jio Fiber by the end of this year”

Since late 2016, Reliance Jio has been testing its FTTH-based Jio Fiber broadband service in select cities across the country. In the testing phase, the emerging telecom operator is offering 100mbps broadband connection with a deposit of Rs 4,500. Now according to a report by Livemint, Reliance Jio is nearing the launch of its Jio Fiber broadband services across the country.

As per the report, Jio Fiber will offer 100mbps broadband service, unlimited video calls and voice calls for as low as Rs 1,000, when it launches its services commercially. Citing anonymous sources, the publication suggests that the brand plans to enter the wired internet service market by the end of this year. The FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) service will also come with unlimited calling through a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone as well as JioTV.

The report comes soon after the Indian Government approved a proposal to allow internet telephony via VoIP. This is a technology that permits users to make voice calls using a broadband connection, instead of a traditional telephone network.

According to the earlier reports, Reliance Jio is currently testing its FTTH-based Jio Fiber in cities including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Jamnagar, Ahmadabad, Surat, and Chennai. After disrupting the telecom segment, it’d be interesting to see how Mukesh Ambani-led company revolutionised the broadband sector in India. We will inform you on the matter as soon as we hear anything, so stay tuned.
