ASUS ZenFone 5Z with 6.2-inch 19:9 display and Snapdragon 845 SoC to launch in India on July 4th

At this year’s MWC in Barcelona in February, ASUS unveiled its latest flagship smartphone dubbed the ZenFone 5Z. Now ASUS is all set to launch the phone in the Indian market. The brand has announced that it will be holding a press event for the release of the device in the country on July 4th. In addition, the vendor has also revealed that its latest ZenFone series flagship will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

To recap, the ASUS ZenFone 5Z flaunts a 6.2-inch full HD+ with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The handset sports a notch above the screen, which is home to the selfie camera, an ambient sensor, and the earpiece. The device has close to none bezels on its two sides, and a slim chin. Apart from a fingerprint sensor, the ZenFone 5Z also gets face unlock functionality. Design-wise, the phone offers a metal and glass sandwich design, and a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent.

The ASUS ZenFone 5Z is powered by the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The phone comes in three RAM and storage configurations – 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. Software-wise, the device boots Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The handset also gets dual 5-magnet speakers, PMIC internal dual amplifiers, dual microphones, hi-res audio, DTX Headphone: X headphones support.

Coming to the camera department, the ZenFone 5Z features a 12MP primary snapper at the rear, aided by an 8MP secondary shooter. The phone also gets 16-scene AI scene detection, AI photo learning, Tri Tech autofocus, PDAF, OIS, EIS, and Dual Pixel autofocus. For selfies, there’s an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and 83-degree wide-angle lens. The other specs include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and a 3,300mAh battery with ASUS BoostMaster fast charging tech.

The ASUS ZenFone 5Z was launched in Europe at the starting price of around Rs 38,000. The phone comes in two colour variants – Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver. We should have the flagship’s pricing and availability details for India in a few days, so stay tuned for regular updates.
