Google and HMD Global are reportedly working on Snapdragon 710-powered smartphones

Qualcomm’s latest 700 series of processors recently debuted with the launch of the Snapdragon 710 powered Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. Now, there are reports that other smartphone makers are gearing up to launch smartphones powered by the latest Snapdragon chipset. Popular industry tipster, Roland Quandt recently revealed that Google and HMD Global are working on their respective Snapdragon 710-powered mid-range smartphones.
HMD/Nokia Mobile is working on a Snapdragon 710 based device to be released in the autumn/winter 2018 timeframe. Codename is “Phoenix”. Oh and btw, the Google SDM710 based device apparently is called “Bonito”.

Speaking of Google’s offering, the search giant was expected to launch a mid-range smartphone series, codenamed Desire. Now, Quandt has revealed that the rumoured mid-range Pixel smartphone is expected to come with the Snapdragon 710 and will be launched in the first half of 2019. The tipster also revealed that the upcoming smartphone has been codenamed ‘Bonito’ by the brand. As for the Nokia offering, he revealed that it is likely to be launched in the autumn/winter 2018 and is called ‘Phoenix’ for the time being.
To recap on the Snapdragon 710, the processor is fabricated from the same 10nm fabrication process as the high-end Snapdragon 845. This means that the processor brings much better battery efficiency and thermal performance onboard. The processor also brings support for Quick Charge 4+ technology and better camera support to the mid-range. An interesting addition comes in the form of the dedicated Multicore AI Engine for enhanced artificial intelligence.
