Samsung Galaxy A8 Star with model number SM-G8858 spotted on TENAA

Samsung’s upcoming mid-range smartphone – Galaxy A8 Star – has been subjected to several leaks and rumours in the recent past. The handset was spotted on the Bluetooth certification and more recently on the Wi-Fi Alliance certification website. The phone was also seen sporting the model numbers – SM-G8850 and SM-G8858 in Wi-Fi Alliance listing. The latter model has now popped up on the Chinese certification website, TENAA.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star was expected to be a China-exclusive device and carrier-locked to a local telecom operator. However, the TENAA listing doesn’t reveal anything new about the smartphone except for confirming the LTE support, dual-SIM standby and Android operating system. According to previous reports, the device is said to come with a 6.28-inch FHD+ Infinity Display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, Exynos 7885 or Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4GB or 6GB RAM, 16MP + 24MP rear camera and a 3,700mAh battery.

At the moment, no further information is known about the handset’s pricing or availability. However, the Bluetooth Certification hinted that the Galaxy A8 Star might get launched globally as well. We will bring you more updates as and when we get them, so stay tuned.
