Samsung Galaxy J8 spotted on NCC; launching globally soon?

Earlier this month, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 smartphones in India. The handsets arrived as the first Galaxy J series smartphones with Infinity Displays. The Galaxy J8 will be available in the country at some point in July. Now it appears that Samsung is all set to launch the phone globally in the near future.

The Samsung Galaxy J8 has been spotted on Taiwan’s National Communications Commission’s (NCC) website under the model number SM-J810Y/DS. This is the dual-SIM variant of the handset. It appears that Samsung is planning to launch the phone in Taiwan in the near future. After Taiwan, the handset is expected to be launched in other markets as well. Notably, the design of the phone on NCC is slightly different than the Indian version as its antenna bands aren’t visible.

To recap the specs, the Galaxy J8 sports an all-metal unibody design with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone gets a 6-inch Super AMOLED HD+ display, and is fuelled by a Snapdragon 450 SoC, aided by 4GB of RAM. The storage capacity on board is 64GB, which can be further increased up to 256GB by inserting a microSD card. Software-wise, it boots Android Oreo out of the box.

The Galaxy J8 flaunts a 16-megapixel primary shooter at the rear, aided by a 5-megapixel secondary snapper. For selfies, the handset sports a 5-megapixel snapper with an LED flash unit. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and A-GPS. A 3,500mAh battery keeps the device running. The handset has been priced at Rs 18,990, and will be available in blue, black, and gold.
