Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i with notch displays and quad cameras launched in India

Huawei’s mid-range Nova series has made its debut in India with the launch of the Nova 3 and Nova 3i smartphones. The company took the wraps off these handsets at an event in New Delhi, today. While the Huawei Nova 3i comes with the new HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC and a 3,340mAh battery, the Nova 3 include the brand’s flagship HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC and a 3,750mAh cell. Both the phones sport a 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a display notch and dual cameras, at the front and the back.

Coming to the core specifications, the Huawei Nova 3 sports a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with 85 percent NTSC colour gamut. The phone has an octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC ticking at its core, which is aided by Mali-G72 GPU and 6GB of RAM. The dual cameras at the back comprise a 16-megapixel shooter with f/1.8 aperture and a 24-megapixel f/1.8 sensor. For selfies, the phone sports 24MP + 2MP snappers. With the front cameras, Huawei has also packed a 3D Qmoji feature that lets you create an animated emoji of oneself. The storage capacity on board is 128GB, which is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD.

The Huawei Nova 3i on the other hand, is an affordable sibling of the high-end model. It features a 6.3-inch full-HD+ LTPS panel with a pixel density of 409ppi. The device is equipped with the company’s latest Kirin 710 SoC, which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage. For photography, the 3i sports a dual rear camera setup, which includes a 16MP camera and 2MP secondary shooter. The selfie camera is the same as the Nova 3, i.e. 24MP + 2MP. 

Both the Nova 3 and Nova 3i run EMUI 8.2 based Android Oreo out of the box and include a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2 LE, and GPS.

Huawei Nova 3’s India price is set at Rs 34,999, while the Nova 3i is being offered for Rs 20,990. The phones will be available to pre-order on Amazon India starting at 2 pm today with an inaugural cashback of Rs 1,000. The company is also offering an additional discount of Rs 2,000 as part of an exchange offer, apart from a no-cost EMI offer at the time of the sale. The Nova 3 is all set to go on sale on August 23rd, while the Nova 3i will be available from August 7th.
