LG V40 ThinQ reportedly launching in October; Snapdragon 845 and five cameras in tow

At the start of the year, LG updated its premium V-series segment with the launch of the V30 ThinQ. The smartphone managed to score some brownie points with AI and additional storage and memory, but it wasn’t exactly the successor to the V30 that was launched last year. Now, the company is prepping to launch the LG V40 ThinQ in early October, and it is said to sport five cameras and flagship-grade chipset.

According to a report, the LG V40 ThinQ is expected to launch on October 5th in South Korea, and it will compete against the Google next-gen Pixel-series phones that are likely to arrive around the same time. 

The LG V40 ThinQ is claimed to sport a higher than ever screen-to-body aspect ratio, 90 to be exact, which will be more than the LG G7 ThinQ’s 19:9 aspect ratio display. However, the biggest highlight of the phone will be the rumoured triple-rear camera setup, which includes 20-megapixel, 16-megapixel, and 13-megapixel sensors. The front camera is also expected to boast of dual-sensors with a 3D face recognition feature similar to Apple’s TrueDepth Camera that powers the iPhone X‘s (review) Face ID.

As rumoured, the LG V40 ThinQ could rock Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC under its hood. The phone will have a dedicated Google Assistant button along with the volume rocker and LG’s Quad DAC technology. Going by the branding – ThinQ, expect the V40 to be heavily customised with AI to boost performance, enhance camera results and more.
