Moto E5 Play with Max Vision display and Android Go goes official

“The new Moto E5 Play is Lenovo-owned Motorola’s first Android Go phone”

Motorola’s E5-series includes three variants: Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus, and Moto E5 Play. While the Moto E5 and E5 Plus were launched in India last week, the more affordable option Moto E5 Play is currently available only in the US. Today, the Lenovo-owned firm announced a new version of its Moto E5 Play that will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition), and it will be available in Europe and Latin American countries.

Android Go is a lighter version of Android’s Oreo OS, best suited for phones with basic specifications. The interface comes loaded with Go-branded apps that occupy less space and work seamlessly with the offered hardware.

Coming back to the Moto E5 Play, software is not the only thing that is different. The phone sports a 5.3-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and employs 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage. Whereas, the standard Moto E5 Play features 5.2-inch display at 16:9 aspect ratio, 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage.

Everything else on the phone remains the same. That means Snapdragon 425 or 427 chipset, 8MP rear camera and 5MP selfie shooter, 2,800mAh battery, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Moto E5 Play Android Go edition is priced at €109, which roughly translates to Rs 8,700. As mentioned above, the phone will go on sale in Europe and Latin America. It is the first Android Go phone from Moto, and there is no information about the phone’s availability in India as yet. If the Moto E5 Play Android Go phone is launched in India, it will compete against the likes of Nokia 1, Lava Z50, and Micromax Bharat Go.
