Sony Xperia XZ2 with world’s first 4K HDR movie recording support launched in India for Rs 72,990
“The Xperia XZ2 flaunts a 5.7-inch FHD+ HDR display and 960fps super slow-motion recording”
Sony has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone dubbed the Xperia XZ2 in the Indian market. The phone was originally unveiled at this year’s MWC in Barcelona in February. The device arrived as the company’s one of the first smartphones to flaunt an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Japanese tech giant is touting the flagship as the world’s first phone to flaunt 4K HDR movie recording support. The handset ditches the brand’s signature OmniBalance design in favour of a more contemporary glass-sandwich design.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 flagship sports a 5.7-inch full HD+ HDR display with a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, and boots Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. The device comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which can be further increased up to 400GB by inserting a microSD card. Design-wise, the handset boasts IP68 certification for dust and resistance.
Coming to the camera department, the Sony Xperia XZ2 flaunts a 19-megapixel MotionEye camera with an aperture of f/2.0, 4K HDR recording, and 960-fps super slow-motion recording support. The rear camera setup also gets BIONz mobile image-processing engine, Predictive Capture, hybrid autofocus, 5-axis stabilisation, and SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode. For selfies, there’s a 5-megapixel camera on the front with an aperture of f/2.2.
As for the other features, the Sony Xperia XZ2 sports front-facing S-Force stereo speakers, which offer Sony’s Dynamic Vibration System that allows you to experience audio through vibrations. For connectivity, the handset offers dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with GLONASS, Miracast, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. A 3,180mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology keeps the handset alive.
Now coming to the pricing, the Sony Xperia XZ2 carries a hefty price tag of Rs 72,990. The phone comes in a single black hue, and will be available via select Sony Center and select brick and mortar stores across the country starting August 1st.
