Xiaomi Mi A2 reportedly launching in India on August 8th
“The Mi A2 comes as a mid-range offering with the Snapdragon 660 processor and up to 6GB of RAM”
Today, Xiaomi took covers off its latest Android One smartphones, dubbed the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, at a global product launch event in Madrid, Spain. At the event, the company announced that the Mi A2 and A2 Lite will be first released in the European market, followed by a global rollout. While the brand revealed that the Mi A2 will be launched in India, it didn’t confirm the same for the Mi A2 Lite. And now we might have a possible launch date for the Mi A2 in India.
According to a report by Telecom Talk, Xiaomi will be launching the Mi A2 in India on August 8th. For the uninitiated, the Mi A2 sports a premium metal unibody design with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone comes with a 5.99-inch, 18:9 full HD+ display with a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Powering the handset is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. The device comes in three RAM and storage variants – 4GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB, and 6GB + 128GB.
At the rear, the Xiaomi Mi A2 gets a 12-megapixel camera, aided by a 20-megapixel shooter. For selfies, the handset gets a 20MP sensor with a soft LED flash unit. In terms of the connectivity, the phone gets dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. A 3,010mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo complete the list of the specs.
Unfortunately, the publication hasn’t been able to reveal anything about the launch of the Mi A2 Lite in the subcontinent. Notably, since the brand didn’t include the Mi A2 Lite in the list of the markets it’s set to launch, it’s very much possible that the phone may never reach the Indian shores, at least not any time soon.
As of now, there’s no word regarding the Xiaomi Mi A2’s Indian pricing. However, in Spain, the phone’s price starts at Rs 20,100 for the base variant, and goes all the way up to around Rs 28,000 for the top-end model. We should have more details regarding the device’s price and availability in India in a few days, so stay tuned.
