Android P to reportedly release to the public on August 20th

“The latest OS comes with features like gesture support and adaptive battery”

Google’s ninth iteration of Android — the Android P (overview) was teased earlier this year at the company’s I/O event. Since then, the OS has been running in the form of beta to give users and developers a taste of the new features ahead of the final official release. Just last month, Google rolled out the final preview version (beta 4) of Android P, which means we are close to seeing the proper build of the upcoming build.

If the words of the noted tipster, Evan Blass, are anything to go by, we might not have to wait for long. Evleaks tweeted that the Android P could be released on August 20th, which means that the compatible devices will start receiving the software update soon. Even though the tweet doesn’t seem to be backed by anything substantial, but looking at the leakster’s past track record, we can believe the claim.

Most likely, Google may also reveal the official name for the Android 9.0. The search engine giant is in practice to name its smartphone software after a dessert, like last year it named Android 8 as Oreo. Rumours are that this year’s Android version will be called Pistachio. Let us know, what you think Google should name it in the comment section below.

Meanwhile, the biggest highlights of Android 9.0 are gesture support, adaptive battery and brightness, and some under-the-hood improvements that are touted to enhance overall user experience. We should have more details about Android P in the coming days, so stay tuned.
