Honor 8X and 8X Max officially launching on September 5th; expected to sport Waterdrop display
“The Honor 8X and 8X Max is expected to be the upcoming budget smartphones from the brand”
Huawei sub-brand Honor recently launched the Honor Play (review) smartphone in India. The handset blew the competition away with its flagship Kirin 970 SoC and competitive pricing. Now, the brand is gearing up to launch its new budget-centric smartphones dubbed as the Honor 8X and 8X Max on September 5th in China. Honor revealed this piece of information on Weibo — China’s micro-blogging website.

The invite mentioned that the upcoming phones are the new Honor 8X smartphones — successor to the last year Honor 7X (review). Unfortunately, it hasn’t revealed anything substantial about the devices, except for the fact that they will be available for sale in the country on the e-commerce site, Vmall.

Meanwhile, the Honor 8X Max was recently spotted on TENAA with model number ARE-AL00. The listing revealed that the alleged handset would feature a tall 7.12-inch Full HD+ display with a small cut-out up top just like the OPPO F9’s Waterdrop notch. The panel will bear an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 and come with minimal bezels on the sides. At its core, the 8X Pro is rumoured to get 1.8GHz octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage. It’ll likely run Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI out of the box.

The Honor 8X, on the other hand, will reportedly come with Master AI feature, which is supposed to adjust the handset’s camera settings with the help of AI-powered scene detection to enhanced results.
Apart from this, we don’t know much about the device at the moment. However, the good news is that the official launch date is out and we’re less than a fortnight away from seeing the all new Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max.
