LG Q8 (2018) with 18:9 display, stylus support, and Hi-Fi Quad DAC goes official

LG today announced its Q8 (2018) smartphone, as a successor to the LG Q8 that was launched last year. The phone offers military-grade durability with MIL-STD 810G and IP68-certified, for water and dust resistance. Other specs of the LG Q8 (2018) include a full vision display, a built-in stylus, fast charging support, and a Hi-Fi Quad DAC technology for enhanced sound quality. The phone shares a lot in common with its elder sibling, LG Q7/ Q7+, that was launched a couple of months ago.

The LG Q8 (2018) sports a 6.2-inch Full-HD+ (2160 x 1080p) display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and borders on either side. The handset is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC, paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. For photography, the dual-SIM Q8 (2018) features a single 16-megapixel sensor on the rear with PDAF lens and LED flash. Its front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter with a 100-degree super wide angle lens. The rear camera of the handset comes with LG’s Q Lens that can be used to identify things around. Moreover, one can also scan QR codes using the Q8 (2018) cameras.

The native storage of the phone includes 64GB, which is expandable up to 2TB through a microSD card. The Q8 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and houses a 3,300mAh battery that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2, and GPS/ A-GPS. A rear-mounted fingerprint sensor takes care of the phone at the security front.

The LG Q8 (2018) price is set at KRW 539,000 (~Rs 32,990) South Korea. The handset comes in Aurora Black and Moroccan Blue colour options.
