“The latest smartphone from Honor comes equipped with the brand’s GPU Turbo technology”
Honor has been on a roll with back-to-back smartphone launches in the Indian market. So far in 2018, its tally includes the flagships View10 (review) and Honor 10 (review), the sub-Rs 10k 7A and 7C (first impression), and the mid-tier Honor 9N (first impression). Today, the brand has launched another device in the country called the Honor Play (first impression) — a mid-range smartphone with flagship performance.
Coming to the specifications, the Honor Play sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ 19.5:9 display with a notch up top for holding the front camera and sensors, and a 2.5D glass protection. The handset employs the flagship HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset under its hood, which is paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The phone also comes with the brand’s GPU Turbo technology that boosts the graphics performance without sacrificing the battery efficiency. The storage onboard is a 64GB UFS 2.1, which is further expandable by adding a microSD card. The handset runs Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 OS out of the box.
In the camera department, the Honor Play boasts AI-backed dual-rear camera setup. It has a 16-megapixel sensor with LED flash and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter for offering depth-of-field effect. As for the selfies, the phone sports a 16MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and pixel size of 2.0um. Other features of the handset include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock capability, a 7.1-channel audio, and connectivity options like hybrid Dual-SIMs, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. Lastly, a 3,750mAh battery with fast charging completes the spec sheet.
The Honor Play price in India is set at Rs 19,999 for the base variant and Rs 23,999 for the 6GB RAM model. Both variants come in Black, Blue, Violet, and Red hues, and are available for sale exclusively on Amazon India starting at 4pm today.
