MEIZU 16X with Snapdragon 710 confirmed to launch in September

MEIZU unveiled two smartphones, the MEIZU 16 and MEIZU 16 Plus, yesterday. Both handsets are loaded with some high-end and latest features, including the in-display fingerprint sensor and Snapdragon 845. It was widely rumoured that the brand might announce a Snapdragon 710 powered phone along with the MEIZU 16 series, but that didn’t happen. However, the company’s CEO, Jack Wang, has now confirmed – in the official forum – that there’s another MEIZU smartphone lined up for this year’s launch, and it will carry Snapdragon 710 SoC.

He further revealed that the upcoming smartphone is called the MEIZU 16X, and it will be unveiled next month, i.e. September. Unfortunately, the CEO didn’t spill any beans on the phone’s specifications, but he was quick to mention that its screen would be bigger than its rival – the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE – that also houses Snapdragon 710 SoC.

If the previous leak is anything go by, then the MEIZU 16X could be the first smartphone from the Chinese OEM with a notched-display. It is likely to flaunt the same design from the rear as its siblings – the MEIZU 16 and 16 Plus. Moreover, an alleged screenshot of the MEIZU 16X suggests the handset will come pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo.
