Microsoft launches Surface Book 2 and Surface Laptop in India, prices start from Rs 86,999

Microsoft on Tuesday launched the Surface Laptop and the Surface Book 2 in India. To recall, the Surface Laptop was first unveiled by the company in May last year, while the Surface Book 2 was initially launched by the company back October last year. Notably, the Surface Laptop has been presented as an education-focused offering and the Surface Book 2 has been claimed to be a five times more powerful device compared with its predecessor.

Talking first about the Surface Book 2, the convertible from the company will be available for purchase in two screen sizes – 13.5-inches and 15-inches. The 13.5-inch PixelSense Display on the device comes with a screen resolution of 3,000 x 2,000 pixels, while the 15-inch variant of the display comes with a resolution of 3,240 x 2,160 pixels. The Surface Book 2 is powered by the latest 8th generation Intel Dual-Core or Quad-Core processors, coupled with NVIDIA GeForce GPUs. The top-end 15-inch variant features Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics, whereas the top-end 13.5-inch variant features similar configuration but with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics.

The convertible features a backlit keyboard and offers both USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports in terms of connectivity options. The Surface Book 2 can be used in different modes, including Studio Mode, Laptop Mode, View Mode, or even Tablet mode by simply detaching the screen, the company said in its press release. The Surface Book 2 has been claimed to offer an impressive battery life of around 17 hours by the company.

Moving to the Surface Laptop, the portable packs a 13.5-inch PixelSense display with a screen resolution of 2,256 x 1,504 pixels. The Surface Laptop runs education-centric Windows 10 S as operating system and is powered by up to seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processor, coupled with up to 16GB RAM and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640. The laptop is also available with up to 1TB of SSD for storage needs. The Surface Laptop has been claimed by the company to offer around 14.5 hours of battery life. The laptop weighs just around 1.25 kilograms.

Coming to the pricing and availability, the pricing for the Surface Book 2 variants with a 13.5-inch display starts from Rs 1,37,999 and goes up to Rs 2,57,999, while that of the 15-inch variant starts from Rs 2,22,499 and goes up to Rs 2,95,999. On the other hand, the pricing for Surface Laptop starts from Rs 86,999 and goes up to Rs 2,33,999. In terms of availability, both the products are now available through Amazon and Flipkart, as well as offline channels like Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, and other authorized retailers in India.
