OPPO R17 and R17 Pro spotted on TENAA, launch seems imminent

OPPO‘s upcoming flagship smartphones, the R17 and R17 Pro have been the subject of many leaks and rumours lately. Just last week, the R17’s live images were leaked online, revealing dual-rear cameras, OPPO’s Waterdrop display, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now, both OPPO R17 and OPPO R17 Pro have reportedly acquired certification from the Chinese agency, TENAA.

As per the certification website, the new R-series phone will come in two variants with the fingerprint sensor as the only notable difference between the two. The alleged R17 seems to sport a capacitative fingerprint sensor on the rear panel, while the R17 Pro is likely to come with optical scanner placed under the display up front. Apart from that, all other aspects of the phones remain the same. Both the R17 and R17 Pro will feature edge-to-edge displays with tiny notches up top, and slim bezels at the bottom. From the rear, the phones are expected to don glass designs with vertically-oriented dual camera setups and LED flash units. 

As for the specifications of the OPPO R17 and R17 Pro, they remain pretty vague at the moment. Rumours in the past suggest that the devices could employ 6.3-inch OLED displays and 3,415mAh batteries with VOOC fast-charging support.

We are still to hear from OPPO if and when it’s planning to launch the R17 and R17 Pro. Meanwhile, the company is also prepping to launch the F9 and F9 Pro with the same Waterdrop display in India and other markets pretty soon.
