Alleged Vivo Y97’s real-life images leaked; reveals dual cameras and ‘Halo’ notched display
“The Vivo Y97 could feature an in-display fingerprint sensor technology”
The ‘Halo’ notched display, which Vivo introduced with its latest mid-range offering, the V11 Pro (review), is soon to be found on the brand’s Y-series smartphone. As per popular leakster @MadSimer, Vivo is prepping to announce the new Y97 smartphone in China pretty soon, and it will come with a tiny-notch atop the display to house the selfie camera. He further proved his point by sharing the alleged hands-on images of the handset.

The images reveal that the Y97 will come with the same design language as the Vivo V11 Pro. There seems to be an edge-to-edge display up front and a layer of glass on the back panel. The rear end also seems to bear dual camera setup at the top-right corner and ‘Vivo’ branding in the middle. The headphone jack, micro USB port and speaker grill can be seen at the bottom edge of the Y97 handset. It remains to be seen if the smartphone comes with in-display fingerprint sensor or not.

Coming to the specifications, the Vivo Y97 is tipped to sport a 6.4-inch display with a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. The handset is expected to be powered by MediaTek Helio P60 SoC aided by 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage space. For photography, it could boast of a 16MP + 2MP sensors on the rear and 16MP shooter on the front for selfies. The Vivo Y97 is said to boot on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and house a 3,240mAh battery.
The Vivo Y97 is expected to go live in China on September 20 where it’s likely to retail at RMB 1898 (~ Rs 19,998). We’d have more details about the handset in coming days, so stay tuned.
