MEIZU 16X to launch in China on September 19th, Snapdragon 710 SoC in tow

Last month, MEIZU unveiled its flagship smartphones the MEIZU 16 and MEIZU 16 Plus in China. Alongside the launch, the company revealed that it would be launching another smartphone in September called the MEIZU 16X. Now, MEIZU has locked September 19th as the launch date of the handset, for which it has started rolling out press invites. Incidentally, it is the same day Xiaomi is announcing the Mi 8 Youth in Chengdu, China.

The press invites haven’t revealed anything substantial about the MEIZU 16X, but it’s official that the device will rock Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 mobile platform. Apart from this, rumours and leaks suggest 6GB RAM and 64GB storage on the handset. It is likely to come with full vision 18:9 AMOLED display with minimal bezels on either side. For photography, the handset could feature a dual-rear camera setup with a 20MP main snapper and a 12MP secondary sensor. For selfies and video calling, it’s said to feature a 20MP shooter on the front.

Further, the MEIZU 16X could come pre-loaded with Android Oreo out of the box and house a 3,010mAh battery. And, as per the alleged renders, the smartphone could come in Matte Black, Ceramic White, and Gold colour options with no fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

The price of the MEIZU 16X is not known at the moment, but it’s expected to cost less than its siblings  the MEIZU 16 and the MEIZU 16 Plus. The devices retail at a starting price of Rs 27,000 in the Chinese market.
