The OnePlus 5 has received the OxygenOS Open Beta 20, while the OnePlus 5T users can upgrade to OxygenOS Open Beta 18. If you have already flash an Open Beta on your device, then you will be receiving the latest Open Beta builds on the OnePlus 5 duo over-the-air. If you are not running the Open Beta version on your phone, then you can flash it by following the instructions on the company’s website.

The latest OxygenOS Open Beta update for the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T brings a handful of the gallery and community features. Now there’s a new gesture to close picture by sliding down in Gallery app. In the Community app, you will find features like community notices, new feed to follow members, more options to share threads, stickied comments, and other general user interface tweaks and bug fixes.

It’s worth mentioning that the latest OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 5 and 5T is a beta software. These firmware versions are not as stable as the brand’s other official OTA updates, so you might encounter some bugs or other issues in the latest Open Beta builds.

As far as the Android Pie update for the two smartphone is concerned, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau took to the Chinese social networking website Weibo to reveal some information about the same. Replying to a question in this regard on a Weibo post, Lau assured that the OnePlus 5 and 3 series handsets will get the Pie update. However, he added that the brand still needs more time to release the new firmware. The company is working on a new Android Pie-based OxygenOS build that will release with the OnePlus 6T and bring a whole new UI with more gestures.

Notably, OnePlus is among the few smartphone manufacturers who take Android updates very seriously. For example, it only took the brand barely two months toll release the Android Pie update to the OnePlus 6, which is currently getting it in select parts of the world.
