ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 reportedly gets EIS support to cameras, live wallpapers, and more via software update

ASUS has started rolling out a new software update to its ZenFone Max Pro M1 (review) smartphone. The update is tipped to carry a slew of new features and aims to offer better optimisations. As reported by TheAndroidSoul, one of the major changes the new software brings to the handset is the electronic image stabilisation (EIS) to the camera app. The feature allows users to shoot images with less distortion. The EIS technology minimizes blurring and compensates for device shake while clicking photos.

Apart from this, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 gets support for Live Wallpapers with the update. It also addresses the problems faced by users on the handset such as Wi-Fi compatibility issue with Asus AC51U, FM issue, and the ringtone issue when using Bluetooth to answer calls. The report further adds that it’s an OTA update and the rollout will be in phases.

The ZenFone Max Pro M1 is ASUS’s mid-range smartphone that was announced earlier this year. The dual-SIM phone runs stock-Android Oreo out of the box. The handset sports a 6-inch full HD+ display bearing an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a 2.5D curved glass on top. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset mated with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB native storage. The latter can be further boosted up to 2TB using a microSD card. For imaging, the phone boasts of dual 16MP + 5MP sensors on the rear and a 16MP shooter on the front.

For security, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The phone also offers a 5-magnet speaker with NXP Smart Amplifier and Max-Box Passive Amplifier accessory for 2X audio amplification. A 5,000mAh battery rounds up the specs sheet of the handset.

As for the price, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1’s top-end 6GB RAM model will cost Rs 14,999, while the 3GB and 4GB RAM options will set you back to Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. The handset is available in two shades –  black and grey.
