OnePlus 6T is equipped with two Dirac-powered audio enhancement modes
“OnePlus has been collaborating with Swedish audio optimisation firm Dirac for three years now, featuring its audio enhancement technologies for the first time in the OnePlus 2.”
The OnePlus 6T has been a much-discussed smartphone. It provides one of the best value-for-money deals in the market, and while it does make a few, very fine cutbacks, the overall package makes for a pretty impressive flagship smartphone. Now, latest word coming out has stated that the OnePlus 6T (review) is not merely a fast-performing smartphone, but it also includes specific modes to please audiophiles. Well, on paper, at least.
OnePlus has been collaborating with Swedish audio optimisation firm Dirac for three years now, featuring its audio enhancement technologies for the first time in the OnePlus 2. Now, reports state that the OnePlus 6T, too, is privy to two sound enhancement modes tuned specifically for the device by Dirac’s engineers. These two modes Dirac HD Sound and Dirac Power Audio, are already available in the device firmware, meaning OnePlus 6T users should be able to reap benefits of this technology through their personal audio gear, already.
The Dirac HD Sound mode helps optimise audio for earphones and headphones, with Dirac’s official website claiming that this particular mode helps tweak “impulse and magnitude frequency response” through software. This probably means that the Dirac HD Sound smoothens out peak amplitude disturbances and levels out the frequency response, as well as balancing the overall sound better to not make tracks sound lopsided. The company claims that the technology is superior to general equalisers. Dirac Power Sound, meanwhile, claims to improve the overall audio output of the integrated speaker. The OnePlus 6T reportedly includes a high performance micro-speaker, the performance of which is further enhanced by this power output mode.
Audio enhancements in smartphones have been a common affair for flagship- and premium-grade devices. However, their credibility and impact has often been questioned, and only a very few software-based audio enhancement modes have actually made audible impact in enhancing personal audio performance. While the OnePlus 6T does not include a 3.5mm audio port, the company will hope that its Dirac enhancements will be good enough to enhance audio driven wirelessly, as well as through the USB-C port.
