Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 FOTA update to bring battery optimisations, camera improvements, and more
“The new ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 FOTA update will start rolling out at 12:30pm today and will be released gradually to users across the country”
ASUS has started rolling out a new over-the-air software update for the ZenFone Max Pro M1 smartphone, which reach users in a phased manner. The FOTA update bears the version number OPM1.WW_Phone-15.2016.1811.338-20181206 and comes with bunch of optimisations and improvements as well as the Android security patch for November 2018.
According to release notes provided by ASUS, the new ZenFone Max Pro M1 update will bring improvements to Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility, third-party app compatibility (with Instagram getting a mention), and improves camera performance on video recording. The update also brings optimisations for power consumption and audio experience via headphones. Users can check for the update in the Settings app after 12:30pm today, though not everyone will get the update in the first batch.
It should be noted that this update will be based on Android Oreo, not the latest Android Pie version. ASUS has previously said that the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android Pie update will be rolled out in February 2019. The company recently unveiled the successor to the smartphone, named Zenfone Max Pro M2.
For those unaware, Zenfone Max Pro M1 was released earlier this year to compete with the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Its highlights are the 5,000mAh, Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display, and stock Android Oreo UI. The device comes in three RAM and storage variants – 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB, and 6GB + 64GB storage. In the camera department, the smartphone comes with 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel rear lenses and an 8-megapixel front camera. The ZenFone Max Pro M1 price in India is Rs 10,999, Rs 12,999, and Rs 14,999 for the 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM variants.
