Huawei sub-brand Honor has unveiled the next-gen V-series smartphones – the Honor V20 and V20 Moschino Edition – in China. The Honor V20 is likely to launch in markets outside China with Honor View 20 branding on January 22nd 2019 at an event in Paris, France. Coming back to the Honor V20 and its Moschino Edition, the two handsets sport screens with holes to house the selfie camera, similar to the Huawei Nova 4 and Samsung Galaxy A8s. The devices also come with several high-end features, such as an impressive 48-megapixel camera, latest premium Kirin chipset, a beefy battery, and the Link Turbo technology that combines both 4G and Wi-Fi networks to boost download speeds.
Honor V20 price
The Honor V20 price is set at RMB 2,999 (~Rs 30,000) for the base 6GB + 128GB storage variant, while top-end 8GB RAM + 128GB option costs RMB 3,499 (~Rs 35,000). As for the Honor V20 Moschino Edition, it will set you back by RMB 3,999 (~Rs 40,000). While both the handsets have two shades – Red and Blue – in common, the standard Honor V20 comes in an additional black colour option.
The sale of the Honor latest offerings December 28th onwards, with pre-bookings open from today. The devices will be available for sale via select e-commerce sites and offline retail stores across China.
Honor V20 specifications
The Honor V20 and Honor V20 Moschino Edition are both shipped with similar specs, except for the RAM and storage. To start with, the devices flaunt a 6.4-inch IPS display with full HD+ (1,080 x 2,310p) resolution, 91.82 percent screen-to-body ratio, and a piercing at the top-right corner for the front camera. At their core lies Huawei’s flagship HiSilicon Kirin 980 silicon built on the 7nm process, with liquid cooling tech for heat dissipation. The chipset is paired with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM and GPU Turbo 2.0 that boost performance while gaming. The storage onboard is 128GB, further expandable using a microSD card. The Moschino Edition employs 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage.
The Honor V20 duo are also equipped with Hi1103GPS chip, which according to the company, makes mobile navigation positioning more precise using AI dual-frequency GPS. Furthermore, the devices offer a Samsubg DeX-like feature that lets buyers use their phones for a desktop-like experience by simply placing it on a compatible dock.
In terms of photography, the V20 equips a 25-megapixel sensor up front for selfies and video calling. Its rear-facing camera gets a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 CMOS primary sensor accompanied by a 3D ToF lens for depth sensing. Honor claims that the handset’s 3D deep sensing technology also enables motion capture for fun AR features. Apart from this, both the cameras are backed by artificial intelligence (AI) that is said to produce shots with better dynamic range and colour reproduction.
A 4,000mAh battery with 4.5V/5A fast charging support fuels the device. On the software front, the Honor V20 comes preloaded with Android Pie-based Magic UI 2.0.1 out of the box. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, proprietor’s AI assistant YOYO, and connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
