iPhone XI renders show a triple camera module in triangular alignment

“The triple camera setup in triangular alignment may include a 3D Time of Flight camera, according to recent rumours”

Apple has had a poor 2018 due to unimpressive iPhone sales as it managed to sell fewer units as compared to 2017. The sales have reportedly forced Apple’s hand to cut down on production orders due to less demand. However, it seems that in 2019 the brand might have a trick or two up its sleeve. New renders and 360-degree videos of the upcoming 2019 iPhone model, or iPhone XI as it’s being called, have surfaced online revealing one key detail.

Apple iPhone 2019 Render

According to the latest renders published by @Onleaks and Digit, the upcoming iPhone series will not witness much of a design change and will flaunt the same glass-sandwich design. However, the highlight happens to be the camera module on the rear panel. The smartphone seems to be housing a square module on the rear with three sensors in a triangular formation and the dual-tone LED flash on top. While no details regarding the sensors of the upcoming iPhone are known at the moment, an earlier rumour suggested that Apple might adopt long-distance 3D ToF technology on the 2019 iPhones.

This means that while the iPhone will have the standard dual cameras on the back, they will be accompanied by a Time of Flight sensor this time. The ToF sensor has recently gained popularity in the smartphone industry and is used to capture 3D images, to focus faster even in the dark, and more.

The report claims Apple will stick to three iPhones on 2019, but is not certain about which model will have the triple camera setup. It says: “Not knowing the scale at which the image was rendered, it is difficult to say which variant will sport the three cameras. However, given the drastic change in the camera setup, this, most probably, is our closest look at the top of the line 2019 iPhone.”

Amidst reports of iPhones being too expensive and failing to generate sales, the new report claims that the 2019 iPhones will likely be even more expensive. According to the Digit, the inclusion of a third camera module might hike the price further. It remains to be seen how the Cupertino giant will handle the pricing of the upcoming iPhones. As for the other specs of the iPhone 2019, nothing is known at the moment except that they might continue to feature the display notch.

We will bring more updates in this regard once more information turn up, so stay tuned.
