JioBrowser with support for 8 regional languages launched for Android devices
“The new JioBrowser is compatible with only Android devices at the moment”
After capturing the telecom market Reliance Industries brainchild Jio is now entering the software headspace with a new web browser called JioBrowser. Developed keeping in mind the needs of “Indian users”, the browser comes with support for up to 8 regional Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali. Plus users can customise the browser and its “Local News category” to get relevant updates about everything that’s happening around them. The telecom giant claims JioBrowser to be India’s first indigenous browser. It is only compatible with Android devices at the moment and there’s no information whether JioBrowser will be launched for iOS devices.
The company claims that its bowser is fast, easy to use and lightweight with “very low memory requirement”, which means users shouldn’t have a problem running it over low end devices. JioBrowser comes packed with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a modern day browser, including dedicated content feeds, smooth user interface, quick access tabs and much more. On its Play Store listing, Jio has listed all the top features of the browser and has requested users to give feedback via comments or mails so that the app can be developed further.
The features that are most likely to interest users include the ability to get relevant news, latest happenings and other engaging videos, all in one place. In fact, the browser comes with dedicated news and videos suggestion pages for offering content. JioBrowser also comes with an incognito mode which can be used for private browsing, and allows you to share content from the news or video feed on social media platforms. Interested users can download it from Google Play for free.
