MEIZU Note 9 India launch likely in March, confirmed to have 48-megapixel camera and Snapdragon 6150 SoC
“The MEIZU Note 9 will be the company’s first smartphone with a display notch”
MEIZU will kick off its 2019 campaign with a Note 9 smartphone. The company’s CEO Jack Wong revealed it in a post along with details about its specifications and features — such as an impressive rear camera. While the exact launch date of the device is yet to be revealed, 91mobiles has learned from industry sources that MEIZU Note 9 will make its debut in India in March 2019.
MEIZU Note 9 specifications
To start with, the MEIZU Note 9 is going to be the first device from the Chinese brand to sport a notched display. The images reveal the cutout will be waterdrop-style for selfie camera. The display size is not known at the moment, but what we can tell it’s going to be bezel-less.
Furthermore, the phone has been confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming mid-range Snapdragon 6150 chipset. It’ll most likely be the world’s first smartphone to do so. There’s very little we know about the SoC; however, a Geekbench listing allegedly reveals that Snapdragon 6150 scores 2,598 points in a single-core benchmarking test and 5,467 in multi-core test. Rumours are that the upcoming Snapdragon chipset will be manufactured on the 11nm process, identical to the Snapdragon 675, and will be accompanied by Adreno 600-series GPU and support for Full HD+ resolution.
Coming back to the Meizu Note 9, it will also employ a whopping 48-megapixel sensor on the rear — the likes of which we have seen on Huawei Nova 4 and Honor View 20 (aka V20) smartphones. The sensor has the maximum resolution supported on a handset at the moment. How much improvement the 48-megapixel sensor brings to smartphone photography is yet to be determined.
That’s all we know about the MEIZU offering that’s all set to succeed the last year’s MEIZU Note 8. The handset was announced with 6.15-inch FHD+ 18:9 display and Snapdragon 632. On the camera front, it sports a dual 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel sensors on the rear, while the memory is 4GB/64 GB without a microSD slot. A 3,600mAh battery fuels the handset.
