OPPO Find Z is not the name of company’s next premium phone
“OPPO VP Shen Yiren revealed the brand has changed the name of its Find series to Find X and ruled out the possibility of a Find Z smartphone”
There have been rumours over a few days that Oppo Find Z will be the next premium smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer and will succeed the Find X. However, OPPO Vice President Shen Yiren today said there is no Find Z handset in the works. It, of course, does not mean the series is dead – instead, it simply means that the next smartphone will have another moniker.

In a post on Weibo, Yiren said OPPO has changed the name of the Find series to Find X, adding that the rumours of a smartphone by the name of Find Z are unfounded. This created a flutter among the company’s fans, with one asking about the possibility of the next-generation model’s name instead being Find X2. To this, the executive replied, “I can’t rule out the possibility.”
While clearly not in development under the Find Z, the handset has been leaked a couple of times in the past few months. In fact, the brand had trademarked the Find Z name with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Due to that, it is a surprise that the company is denouncing reports of the handset being in development. Whatever its name may be, the next smartphone in the Find X series is rumoured to come with Snapdragon 855 SoC. We can also expect it to run the Android Pie-based ColorOS 6.0 software and support Super VOOC fast-charging.
And we may not even have to wait too long as OPPO is set to host its pre-MWC 2019 event in Barcelona tomorrow. The brand has already confirmed it will be showcasing its first smartphone with 10x hybrid optical zoom technology at the event. It might even showcase its foldable phone and a 5G handset at the event.
