OPPO Reno Z with MediaTek Helio P90 SoC launched in China

Just a couple of days ago, OPPO introduced its latest Reno series smartphone called the Reno Z in Europe. The phone arrived with Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 710 processor. Now, OPPO has unveiled a new variant of the Reno Z handset with MediaTek’s Helio P90 chipset in its home market, China. The phone has arrived as one of the first smartphones to utilise the new 12nm MediaTek SoC.

Both the 6GB + 256GB and 8GB + 128GB variants of OPPO Reno Z have been priced at RMB 2,499 (~Rs 25,000). The phone comes in four attractive colour variants – Star Purple, Extreme Night Black, Coral Orange, and Bead White. The handset is available for pre-orders in China and will go on sale from June 6th.

The new OPPO Reno Z in China offers the same set of specs as the Europe variant, apart from a different SoC and a slightly bigger battery. The phone features a waterdrop notch above the screen to accommodate the selfie camera. The device gets a glass back with an O-Dot ceramic point to protect the camera lens. The smartphone has a metal frame and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The handset boots Android 9 Pie based ColorOS 6.0 out of the box, and gets features like Game Boost 20, Frame Boost, and Touch Boost for an enhanced gaming experience.

Moving on to the other features, the OPPO Reno Z gets a 6.4-inch full-HD+ display with a screen-to-body ratio of 92 percent. The phone sports a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary camera at the rear, accompanied by a 5-megapixel secondary snapper. For selfies, the handset has a 32-megapixel snapper on the front with AI features to let you tweak the self-portraits.

The new OPPO Reno Z’s octa-core MediaTek Helio P90 SOC offers a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz. The phone comes in two RAM and storage variants – 8GB + 128GB and 6GB + 256GB. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and A-GPS with GLONASS. A 4,035mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 20W fast charging support completes the list of the specifications.
