OPPO’s dual screen phone reportedly under work, suggests patent
“The second display on the could serve as a screen for taking selfies with rear-facing cameras”
OPPO is prepping to launch its second full view display phone with a staggering screen-to-body aspect ratio. After launching the Find X (review) with 93.8 screen-to-body aspect ratio – the highest ever, the company has reportedly filed a patent for a new phone that has a similar design on the front and a second display on the rear. The renders of the handset were leaked on the interwebs, hence revealing its design in full glory.
As seen on the images, the mysterious OPPO phone features a truly bezel-less display on the front. The handset seems to have missed out on the selfie camera. From the rear, the smartphone can be seen featuring either a single or a dual camera setup along with a small secondary display. The volume rocker is spotted on the right edge and the power button on the left. Sadly, there is no capacitive fingerprint sensor on the phone.
It is speculated that the second screen on the phone could be used for taking selfies from the rear camera. Moreover, it can also be used to display things like notifications, weather, time, music, and more, as seen on the Meizu Pro 7 smartphone. The patent further reveals that the main display will show the same content as the secondary display, and there will be an icon which allows users to switch to the additional screen conveniently.
Looking at the above image, OPPO has considered different positions for the rear cameras. The phone will be water and dust-resistant certified. The Chinese OEM had filed the patent in September last year and it was published by WIPO on July 12th.
The specs details of the phone in question are very scarce at the moment. Also, we have no information as to when OPPO is bringing its smartphone with such a design right now.
