Taiwanese manufacturer, Acer, has launched two new gaming laptops at CES 2019. The first of the two, the Acer Predator Triton 900, was unveiled during IFA Berlin last year. This beast of a laptop is now official and also gets a price tag. Alongside the Triton 900, Acer has also launched the Predator Triton 500 gaming laptop at the event in Las Vegas. Both of these laptops feature the latest Intel processors and the newly announced Nvidia RTX 2080 GPUs.
Acer Predator Triton 900
The Predator Triton 900 is a very unique gaming laptop as it features a hinge that allows users to change the angle of the display. This is a 2 in 1 laptop that can act as a full-fledged gaming device or as a tablet. The display is a 17.3-inch 4K touchscreen with support for Nvidia G-Sync. This is an expensive laptop and has a base price of $4,000. The laptop only comes with the latest Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU with 8GB of GDDR6 RAM.
Other specifications of the Triton 900 include, 8th generation Intel i7 8750H processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM(upgradeable to 32GB), 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD storage, in-built Xbox Wireless receiver and fourth-generation Acer Aeroblade 3D fans for maximum cooling. The laptop also features a full mechanical keyboard, which should make gamers happy. It even features head tracking audio by Waves that provides a 3D listening experience. Acer will begin selling the laptop in March this year.
Acer Predator Triton 500
Coming to the more practical Triton 500, this gaming laptop starts at $1,799 and is only slightly less powerful than the Triton 900. It features a 15.6-inch 1080p display with 144Hz of refresh rate and Nvidia G-Sync support. The laptop weighs 4.6 pounds and is 0.7-inches thick. According to Acer, the Triton 500 can provide up to 8 hours of battery life, which is pretty impressive for a gaming laptop. Of course, you can only expect such battery life when the laptop isn’t used for gaming.
The hardware on this laptop is similar to the Triton 900. It is equipped with 8th generation Intel i7 8750H processor, which can be paired with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. You can choose between the Nvidia RTX 2060 or the RTX 2080 GPU and NVMe PCIe SSD storage up to 1TB is available. If you choose the RTX 2080 GPU, then the laptop will start at $2,499.
