Nokia 5 (2017) Android 9 Pie update starts rolling out

HMD Global has started seeding the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android 9 Pie, to Nokia 5 (2017). The announcement was made by HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas on Twitter who also shared a small video clip that shows how good a job the Finnish company is doing at keeping its smartphones up to date with latest the software. The Android Pie update for Nokia 5 is a little over 1660MB in size and includes the Android security patch for January among other features Android Pie brings.

The Nokia 5 (2017) Android Pie update’s changelog details the new system navigation, settings menu and notifications, in addition to adaptive battery power prioritisation and predictive application actions. The OTA update is being rolled out gradually, which means it’ll be a while before all Nokia 5 units come up to speed.

Nokia 5 (2017) is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card). It has a 5.2-inch HD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. Camera wise, it sports a 13-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front shooter. The smartphone comes with all the regular bells and whistles, including a fingerprint scanner and 3,000mAh battery. The Nokia 5 price in India on Amazon.in is Rs 9,599.
